Essential Job Functions: A Mechanical Engineer at TFI is responsible for the design of all aftermarket and OEM components, all internal equipment design, and determining production processes. Regular tasks include but are not limited to the following: Projects will be delegated by the Engineering Supervisor and the timeline will be managed by the Project Manager. All projects will have specific deadlines and milestones. If a project falls behind a catch-up strategy will be determined by the engineering supervisor and project manager. The catch-up strategy may consist of delegating parts of the project to other personnel or mandatory overtime. Once delegated a project, it is the Mechanical Engineer’s responsibility to communicate with all necessary personnel to gather all information for the product design. This includes, researching requirements for new parts or material, developing new processes, Understanding internal or industry quality and safety standards. The Mechanical Engineer will support production by working with supervisors and operators to troubleshoot issues related to design, process, and equipment. In order to help troubleshoot these problems, every engineer will need to know the limits and capabilities of all equipment and the basics of how to operate them. All changes will need to be documented and properly submitted to the engineering assistant responsible for documentation control.
