The Sales Manager translates the organization’s vision, mission, and values into a meaningful context the Company’s sales team can relate to and feel excited about. He/She represents the Company by motivating and encouraging the customer service representatives to meet sales quotas while exceeding the expectations of our customers when it comes to quality of service. Through leading, monitoring, and training, he helps the sales representatives meet their potential to improve sales performance.
The job of Sales Manager was established for the purpose of setting goals, analyzing data, and developing training programs for the Company’s customer service representatives. He/She is expected to direct the sales team, develop sales strategies, set sales quotas and ensure customer satisfaction. It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to oversee personnel issues such as the recruitment, training and discipline of all staff involved in sales and customer service activities.
Resolves customer complaints regarding sales and service.
Prepares budgets and approves expenditures.
Monitors customer preferences to determine the focus of sales efforts.
Analyzes sales statistics to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and to monitor customers’ preferences.
Projects sales and determines the profitability of products.
Determines discount rates or special pricing plans.
Develops plans to acquire new customers, through direct sales techniques, cold calling, and business-to-business marketing visits.
Assigns sales territories and sets sales quotas
Plans and coordinates training programs for sales staff.
Assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the sales team.
Leads and schedules monthly team meetings with sales team and leadership.
Advises the sales representatives on ways to improve their sales performance.
Ensures customer satisfaction.
Maintains contact with vendors and customers.
Insures Company policies and procedures are properly communicated.
Recommends or implements personnel actions, such as employee selection, evaluation, rewards, or disciplinary actions.
Works with support team to provide exceptional customer service and address customer concerns.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Requires strong leadership, analytical and communication skills. Needs to be a self-starter that requires minimum direction and, is able to develop creative sales programs. Should be a positive thinker that can take quick action to come up with solutions. Ability to perform multiple tasks without losing focus. Communicates effectively with other employees including management and subordinates. Must be willing to delegate and be able function well under pressure. Excellent negotiation skills.
Should have a sound understanding of modern management techniques. An exceptional understanding of the industry. Excellent math skills as the job involves calculating and recording. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: management techniques, understanding of Company policies and procedures and knowledge of the industry.
Analytical with ability to make decisions based on balancing advantages and disadvantages. Good at setting, planning and controlling objectives to attain targeted goals. Cooperation and flexibility is required to work with a wide diversity of individuals. Ability to anticipate problems and look ahead to consider future opportunities. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; adapting to changing work priorities; meeting deadlines and schedules; and setting priorities.
Works under limited supervision using standardized procedures; monitors, coordinates and prioritizes customer service activities; sets and reviews sales goals for the customer service and sales department.
3 years of prior management or supervisory experience
3-5 years of sales or customer service experience; within the Automotive parts industry.
